Playing with Purpose: a Card Game for Brand Strategy
Back to journal
When Monica Hernandez, founder of Mon, reached me out, she painted a familiar picture: small business owners struggling to articulate their brand identity, leading to costly missteps when working with communication experts. As a business designer, not a branding specialist, she needed a tool to bridge this gap, empowering her clients to define their brand personality before seeking external help.
I believe strongly that clear communication is the foundation of successful collaborations. This is especially true when it comes to the often intangible world of branding. A business owner who understands their brand's essence can provide invaluable direction, saving both time and money.
Thus, "Brandscope" was born - a deck-building card game I designed to make brand strategy fun and accessible. By selecting cards representing their core values (like 'Integrity'), unique identity (like 'The Explorer'), and special flair (like 'Tech-Savvy'), entrepreneurs craft a brand personality profile that's uniquely theirs. It's a tangible way to spark conversation and ensure everyone's on the same page.
Right now Monica is testing the deck with her clients and the feedback has been just as expected: "Self-discovery is powerful and underestimated". By equipping her clients with the tools to articulate their vision, we empower them to take ownership of their brand's journey.
