CAME Type: a Fun Yet Challenging Font Project

Back to journal

“CAME Type” is a project that still brings back funny anecdotes years later, even though we were stressed and struggling at 4 a.m. with a slice of pizza in our hands, trying to meet the client’s deadline.

It was one of the first corporate custom fonts I managed as a design team leader for Univisual, nearly seven years ago. With extensive linguistic support, it was an ambitious project for a global leader in residential, public and urban automation.

Looking back at the final output, I smile because I realize I drew on all my project management skills to solve last-minute issues with punctuation, tracking groups or accents for the extended Unicode blocks.

In the end, I believe my true leadership strategy was sharing a design vision with a group of passionate people while being resourceful. We had fun, and the late nights were never a problem. Our efforts naturally led to a successful outcome, recognized with numerous design awards.

See the full details of the project on Univisual's website.
